Eat At Joe's

I had a wow moment today when doing some catching up on advertising industry news. Let's just say, lately advertising news has been in a terrible rut with everything out there talking about either how to cope with a recession or how to be an overnight success at social media. What a relief to get a shot in the arm reading about what people like me actually do best.
Turns out, in a recession there's a silver lining for some small businesses with a little money to spend. This particular scenario is set in Redondo Beach, California; but, the exciting thing is it can happen anywhere!
Here's how it breaks down: Basically, two very talented people who needed work, found a restaurant owner who needed more customers. Together, they cooked up a magical commercial for pennies on the dollar including a catchy new jingle and volunteer actors. They then found a media outlet to run it for a $1 a spot, in Los Angeles! The result is the commercial 'Eat At Joe's'.
The restaurant owner reported sales were up 10% with the initial push and now he is going to expand his budget a bit and reach even more people at around $15 per spot. Read more and watch the commercial at: http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-cheap-ads-20100602,0,1771558.story
