Do-it-yourself advertising

Posted by Lisa Last on Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Thinking you can't afford a fancy high-flyin' cadre of advertising superheroes to deploy your message to the masses?

Below is an outline of mere-mortal basics to get your brand soaring to new heights:

1)      Begin by asking yourself 'who' is your audience? 'Who' exactly is your customer and what do they need to know about you, your company and your services? Ask yourself what you would say if you could talk individually to each and every prospect.

2)      Once you determine who you you are targeting, think of the most likely ways your audience will be receiving their information and go that direction. This should maximize the money you do spend on advertising.

3)      Do not settle for a mishmash of looks and designs presented to you by a handful of various sales reps, created by their in-house graphics dept. Using the graphics services provided can save you big bucks, but be specific when you utilize more than one in-house graphics dept.  Provide examples, samples and artwork that you know represents you well and is consistent with everything else you've done.

i.e. Always make sure your signage looks like your envelopes, looks like your checks which look like your invoices which look like your business cards etc.

Consistency of color, design and message equal a stronger brand — no matter how new or small your business is.

Stay tuned to this small but mighty wave-length to learn more super-secrets of Mighty MCS Advertising.
